Purton 2

Pewsey Vale Dev. 0

Purton made it four wins in a row to move up to seventh in the Wiltshire League Premier against Pewsey Vale Development on Saturday.

Several injuries meant a couple of additional signings came in for the home side. Purton dominated throughout creating multiple chances from the start. The first opportunity came when Chris Avery broke free of the Pewsey defence and went one on one with the opposition keeper only to put his chance wide of the target.

Avery continued to cause problems, and on 30 minutes broke free once more, putting his chance at the oncoming keeper who saved well but only as far as the oncoming Mark Chatwin who slipped a pass to Jack Duckers to slot in to the net to give Purton the lead.

The hosts continued to dominate, causing problems but not taking enough chances. New signing Callum Little was a constant threat from the right, creating a number of opportunities for the visitors.

In the second half, Purton took a while to get going. They gave away possession in far too frequently, however the home side never really looked like causing Purton keeper Luke Kuczynski any real problems, with Purton captain and man of the match on the day, Steve Keir winning everything from centre half.

Purton made it 2-0 on 75 minutes when the ball broke to Chatwin who found Jack Duckers. He held the ball up well and found Callum Little on the right wing to break past the Pewsey defence and slot calmly past the oncoming keeper.

Purton are now five unbeaten in the league but turn their attention to a huge cup game next weekend at home to Bemerton Heath.
