Emirates FA CUP - Third qualifying round

Winchester 3 Cirencester 0

Cirencester Town crashed out of the FA Cup after a first half collapse at Winchester City.

Town had to play most of the second half with ten men after Michael Pook was dismissed which didn't help their cause as Charlie Griffin's men were 2-0 down at half time and had a mountain to climb in the second half.

Cirencester improved in the second half but couldn't find the breakthrough and the hosts compounded the Centurions misery when they sealed it with a late penalty.

The visitors found themselves a goal down after just three minutes when Tom Carr tapped the ball home from close range.

Winchester made it with just 20 minutes played when a clever overhead kick played in Simba Mlambo who finish smartly when one on one.

Cirencester managed to get a bit of a foothold late in the half and had decent chances through Aiden Bennett, who shot on the turn and a Ben Whitehead overhead kick.

It got worse for Cirencester when Pook was sent off for a poor challenge just as the visitors began to control possession.

Griffin's side pressed well despite being a man down but the game was sealed when Joe Hayward netted from the penalty spot.
