Malmesbury Victoria have had a slightly difficult week having not won in two games since their FA Vase triumph.

Kev Bridgeman's side suffered their first league defeat of the season at home to Clanfield which was followed by a spirited 4-4 draw with Cheltenham Saracens in the Subsidiary Cup.

Malmesbury's unbeaten league start came to an end on Saturday when Clanfield won 3-0 at the Flying Monks

After their fine win last weekend in the FA Vase, The Vics were undone by a dogged Clanfield outfit as they struggled to find any rhythm and rarely troubled the visiting keeper. Clanfield deservedly took the lead in the27th minute with a tidy finish by Dan Gardner.

In the second half, the visitors increased their lead with a breakaway goal by Jordan Cormack, in the 65th minute. Four minutes later, Nathan Kimber rounded it off with a fine strike from 20 yards. Paul Carson came closest to scoring for The Vics in the 85th minute but his header was superbly diverted by Clanfield’s Josh Givens who frustrated Malmesbury.

Malmesbury were then in Subsidiary Cup action on Tuesday night as they drew 4-4 with Cheltenham Saracens. Shane Bumphrey returned with a hat-trick but it wasn't enough.
