Painswick/Cainscross 17

Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds 5

TO provide opportunities for their reserve and veteran players to enjoy a game of rugby, Cainscross and Painswick have amalgamated their united teams, writes Richard Barnard.

Their first game resulted in at Broadham. Painswick/Cainscross opened the scoring when second row Sam Mills touched down at the end of a well controlled catch-and-drive from a lineout. Civil Service then drove over from close range. A quick tap and run from Olly Hall restored the lead.

The game was made safe when Sam Gabb slithered over the line, leaving five defenders in his wake. The run was set up from an excellent offload from fellow veteran Oz Smith as he was well tackled by James Stuart, who was guesting for Civil Service in the second half. This was the final score in an enjoyable game.

The next fixture is against Fairford 2nds on October 13 at Victory Park.
