Foxcote and CANI claimed victories in cup finals at Cirencester Park Polo Club.

Two prestigious tournament finals were played on the Ivy Lodge Ground, entertaining enthralled crowds with great standards of play and competition.

The Kingscote Cup Final played on the Saturday between two local teams, Noon Giraffe and Foxcote, both of whom have had a season long campaign in the Six Goal to culminate with this sought after National tournament. At the end of the first of four chukkas they were level pegging. Noon Giraffe went into the lead going into half time with a 30 yard penalty conversion. Foxcote had a constructive team talk at half time and came out with a win in their minds, two more field goals and a successful 40-yard penalty conversion later and they’d taken home the Kingscote Cup.

The Subsidiary Final was played between Stoneyhill and CANI, who were playing for the Victor Ludorum title. Stoneyhill won 7-4, taking home the Owl Trophy but CANI still scored enough points to win the Victor Ludorum title.

On Sunday, Tomlinson Equine, a team of friends and family members; Tamara Fox and Nina Clarkin being sisters and Emma Wood and Mark Tomlinson also siblings and all old friends, played against a Father and Son Foxcote team to battle it out for the Cheltenham Cup.

The Cheltenham Cup was originally presented to Cirencester Park Polo Club by the Cheltenham Polo Club in the 1950’s.

Foxcote started out with a half goal start on handicap. An open and exciting game followed with all goals being field Goals rather than penalties, putting points on the scoreboard. In the final seconds, of the game Mark Tomlinson scored to give Tomlinson Equine the half goal upper hand and the Cheltenham Cup title.

The Cirencester Park Polo Club Season closes with the Gouldsmith Bowl and Associates Trophy Finals on Sunday 23rd.
