SWINDON ROBINS went top of the Premiership with a 55-35 win over Leicester, writes Phil Rice.

After two shared heats, Adam Ellis and Tobiasz Musielak teamed up for the first of their two maximum heat wins, and whilst Scott Nicholls led Nick Morris with David Howe in third place to reduce the deficit to two points, the home side carded six heat wins to make it 39-21.

Heat 11 saw Hans Andersen combine with Nicholls for a second Lions 4-2, but two home 5-1’s involving Zach Wajtknecht gave the Robins a 24-point lead by the last race.

Musielak and Troy Batchelor teamed up in heat 15 with the Pole looking to secure a paid maximum. He flew from the gate but referee Dave Waters called for a rerun.

Musielak’s clutch let him down as Andersen - fourth win of the night - and Nicholls filled the first two places with Batchelor behind.

The home top five showed some decent form although Morris failed to win a heat, but Adam Ellis with three victories, David Bellego and Musielak with two each more than made up for this.

Again Wajtknecht showed his improvement with a paid 13, but luckless Jack Smith struggled again.

Swindon entertain Belle Vue on Thursday evening before trips to Wolverhampton and Poole.

There are six sides fighting for the play offs, with Swindon expected to get there.

Swindon 55: Zach Wajtknecht 11+2, Tobiasz Musielak 10+2, Adam Ellis 10, David Bellego 9, Troy Batchelor 8+3, Nick Morris 7, Jack Smith 0.
