Cirencester B 3 Stinchcombe Hill B 3

CIRENCESTER’S B team did very well to draw 3-3 with the strong visiting opposition from Stinchcombe Hill, who were very complimentary about the condition of the course, the greens and, of course, the new 18th hole, writes Danny Hall.

Examples of the golfing quality that the home side was up against included Alan Hughes & David Michael losing 3&1 on the 17th green to a duo who were 11 under handicap at the time. Meanwhile, Dave Murray thought he had fluked a half on the 9th when his thinned shot from a greenside bunker hit a tree before rebounding on to the putting surface for a tap-in par three, only to see the opposition roll in a 45-foot birdie putt.

The three winning Cirencester combinations were Kevin Young & Howard Jones (3&2), Jonathan Wells & Paul Loxton (2&1) and Paul Helbrow & Paul Jenkins (1up).

The high-flying Cirencester A team also found Stinchcombe more than a handful in the North Gloucestershire Foursomes League over the weekend.
