North Cotswold Tri & Run race report

Lucy Walmsley was yet again the toast of NCTR as she was crowned British standard distance triathlon champion in her V45 age category at the British Triathlon Championships in Leeds.

This event also incorporated the world series for the world's best triathletes.

After a solid 1.5km swim, Lucy was in 5th place in her age category going into transition where she then proceeded to cycle her way around the busy 40km course to record the 2nd fastest bike ride of the day.

Another smooth transition meant she headed out for the 10k run leading her age category which she maintained until the end where she entered the iconic finish in Millennium Square to be crowned British V45 Standard Distance Triathlon champion and a superb 8th position overall across all age categories.

Her finish time was 2hrs 20min.

Lucy now holds two British V45 Triathlon titles having also been crowned British Ironman distance champion last year. In a few weeks time she’ll be going to Hever Castle to try for a third title at the British Half Ironman Triathlon champs.

In the marathon running world, Steve Edwards continued to chip away towards his world record attempt to run the fastest 1000 marathons, this week he was at Yeovil running his 825th marathon where he finished 3rd in his V55 age category in a time of 3:24:29.

This result proved to be Steve’s 748th sub 3hr 30min finish and will be attempting to achieve a new 750 landmark record with two further marathons planned in the next 7 days.
