Cooley Monsoon owned by Jennifer Saunders and ridden by Piggy French won the Eventing Ireland CCI2* at Tattersalls International Horse Trials in Ireland, writes Rebecca Rhodes.

West Littleton’s Harry Meade riding Tenareze took 4th with Laura Collet and London52 in 6th.

Laura Collett beat a field of 71 competitors to win the Cooley Farm Young Horse CCIYH1* class with her own, Margie Gibb and Karen Bartlett’s Calmaro. Leading from the start, they completed on their dressage score of 21.80.

Gatcombe-based Tom McEwen took 2nd with Barbara Cooper’s Dreamaway who also added no faults to their dressage score to complete on 25.3. In 4th was Swedish rider Ludwig Svennerstal who is currently based with Zara Tindall at Aston Down. Harry Meade slipped from 2nd to 6th after rolling a pole in the show jumping phase.

Tom McEwen took 2nd in the Land Rover CCI1* with Barbara Cooper’s Braveheart B, finishing on their dressage score of 29.2, narrowly beaten by just 0.3 of a penalty.

The prestigious Irish Field CCI3* was won by Izzy Taylor from Bicester riding Call Me Maggie May, William Fox-Pitt took 2nd with Little Fire. Ludwig Svennerstal dropped from 1st to 3rd in the show jumping phase with El Kazir SP.

Antipodeans took the top three places in the George Mernagh Memorial CIC3*. Australian Emma McNab took the win with Fernhill Tabasco, despite adding 5.2 cross country time penalties to their score.

Marlborough-based Badminton winner, New Zealander Jonelle Price and Faerie Dianimo were one of only 3 combinations to come home inside the time to take 2nd. Australian Bill Levett who is based in Chipping Campden took 3rd with Lassban Diamond Lift.

Local rider Jonty Evans was lying in 2nd place with Cooley Rorkes Drift before the cross country but an unfortunate parting of the ways at the last water complex saw them eliminated. Jonty was taken from the course by ambulance and reported to be in hospital under observation.
