North Cotswold Tri & Run athletes Pippa Brown, David Pyne and Andy McCoombes took on the Edinburgh marathon.

Pippa was running her first ever marathon and was delighted to finish in 3:57:27. Andy was next home for the club with an impressive 4:03:16 followed by David in a time of 4:33:02.

Steve Edwards meanwhile ran the local Boddington marathon near Cheltenham and finished second V55 and 10th place overall in a time of 3:21:18.

NCTR also had a team competing in the Cotswold Hilly 100 relay where ten members each run an approx 10 mile leg of a very hilly 100 mile course around North Gloucestershire and South Warwickshire.

It started at 6am on Sunday morning with Claire Harrison kicking-off the proceedings for NCTR, soon establishing her position in the race and putting in a fine performance of 1:16:17. She handed over to Phil Brush who ran strong and gained some vital places in a time of 1:03:59 to handover to Chris Krzywiec. Chris battled on admirably after having suffering a bad back a few days earlier, his heroic performance of 1:09:13 ensured the teams continuity. His wife Kate took over the baton and put in a blistering performance of 1:09:34 to handover to Marianne Badger. Marianne took her role seriously and did her club proud in 1:20:52. Seasoned runner Dennis Walmsley took over the helm and battled through a thunder storm in 1:07:43 catching many teams that had started an hour earlier at 5 AM. Lisa Cartilage was thrilled to be part of the team and with her ‘give it a go’ attitude she completed leg 7 in an inspiring 1:40:23. Leg eight was a mass start and Laura Williams put herself amongst the mix to run a very creditable 1:26:18 handing over to her husband Tom who soldiered through the heat and humidity in 1:16:20 to handover to the current Ironman British F45 age group champion Lucy Walmsley who smashed away through to the finish in 1:10:08. Half the team were new to this event and three married couples represented NCTR to once again reach a well deserved podium position in only the second time of competing. For such a new and small club their overall time of 12:40:47 and 3rd overall in the mixed team competition was an outstanding performance against many large and established clubs.
