Saturday was one for the sofa!

Fortunately watching Forest Green and Gloucestershire cricket over the years has toughened me up and I am ready for anything.

I did anticipate a relaxing afternoon when I settled down to watch the rugby from Kingsholm.

How wrong I was! Watching Gloucester is an infuriating experience. At key moments the team makes basic errors or give away penalties.

Streetwise they are not. In between they play fine rugby. Eight changes had been made, the management believing in rotation. Not for this game. It required the strongest side. The defeat was self-inflicted.

March 21, 7.30PM is a date for cricket lovers in the Cotswolds. County chief executive Will Brown is coming to Cirencester to speak at the AGM of the local region. Will be speaking about all aspects of the game and everyone is welcome .The venue ist he Somewhere Else pub in Castle Street.

I look forward to getting back to football on Saturday when Notts County come to Forest Green.

They are a club with a fine history and will be a stern test for our rebuilt team.

Team is the correct way to describe the relationship between manager Mark Cooper and chairman Dale Vince. Together they realised what was needed to stop the team drifting and with the support of the chairman the manager seems to have done that.

What is certain is the rest of the season will be of considerable interest.
