SWINDON TOWN boss Dave Flitcroft and his chairman Lee Power must be delighted with their transfer deadline day business on Thursday, having captured four possible first XI players, the latest of which was not confirmed until after midnight, writes Danny Hall.

The pre-season friendly in which a Derby County U23 side trounced Town 4-0 has borne fruit.

Flitcroft was very impressed by the young Rams that day and he has managed to secure season-long loans for two of their stars, exciting midfield playmaker Timi Elsnick – a favourite already with Derby fans – and wide man Kellan Gordon.

That should significantly boost an area in which Swindon have looked weak this season – creativity.

What Will Henry, our back-up goalkeeper who has trained with the England U19s must think of the arrival of Reice Charles-Cook from Coventry City on a one year contract is anyone's guess. Livid I would think.

Charles-Cook, who played under Flitcroft at Bury, has apparently not come in to warm the bench but to challenge Lawrence Vigouroux for the first team shirt.

Vigs' form makes him look impregnable at the moment, but perhaps Charles-Cook is a more long-term signing in the expectation of losing our number one in the January transfer window.

Charles-Cook was formerly Coventry's number one stopper but appears to have fallen out of favour with the Sky Blues management.

Social media postings from Coventry fans after the deal suggested that the club may have got rid of the best of their three senior keepers.

Henry will presumably now go out loan to get some game time.

Further firepower up front has been added by the arrival of striker Keshi Anderson from Premiership Crystal Palace.

He was a Swindon target previously but went out on loan to Bolton instead.

The fact that his deal was done at the 11th hour suggests to me that an approach from another club must have fallen through and that Flitcroft was happy, and agile enough, to pick up the pieces.

These are four positive signings and it would appear that Flitcroft's 23-man squad has all bases – along with injury and suspension eventualities – now covered.

The business was most definitely a statement of intent to bounce straight back to League One.

What Flitcroft does not want now is for the positivity to be dented against Barnet this afternoon by making it three home games in three without a win this season.
