Northampton Double Marathon Challenge
STEVE EDWARDS took another couple of steps nearer to the 800 marathons world record by winning a double marathon event in Northampton last weekend.
On a testing eight-lap trail route around the Nene Valley, and not having run a double marathon for more than two years, Steve wasn't sure how he would fair.
However he couldn't have wished for a better outcome recording 3:24.55 for second place on Saturday and 3:25.50 for fourth on Sunday, giving him a combined overall winning time of 6:50.45.
As he nears his 55th birthday, an exhausted but delighted Steve said: "I could never have envisaged running back-to-back sub 3:30s on this type of course at my age let alone win it outright. I'm really pleased."
