THE penultimate round of matches in the Glos FA Walking Football League was played on Wednesday, April 26 at The Arena, Cirencester, writes Pete Mitchell.
Local side Phoenix Force almost caused an upset against unbeaten league leaders Abbeymead Rovers when they led 1-0, until their opponents equalised in the last minute. Abbeymead did lose a subsequent match which resulted in Stroud and themselves being neck and neck at the top of the table with three matches each left to play.
Selected results: Phoenix Force 1 Abbeymead Rovers 1; Brimscombe 1 Phoenix Force 0; Phoenix Force 2 Bristol City 1; Malmesbury 1 Stroud 3.
