FRESH from winning three overall titles in the Grass Roots Tour (South) Series, the WMSki wakeboarding team from Somerford Keynes travelled north to show off their skills at the final northern round of the competition in Merseyside.

Six members competed at the Liverpool Wake Park in leg eight of the north region series and came back with three podium places – a tremendous effort at an unfamiliar course.

Cheltenham’s James Whiting won the Men’s Open and Cirencester’s Kay Ransom (Ladies’ Rookie) and South Cerney’s John Anderson (Men’s Rookies) both finished third in their respective events.

Kay and John had been southern champions in the same categories during the series, while WMSki’s Nick Evans won the Men’s Intermediate.

Most wake parks close over the winter and the results in Liverpool were a fantastic way for the club riders to end the wakeboarding season.

The Merseyside event was well-attended with the maximum number of entries (50) taking part.
