Blunsdon 2

Avonvale Utd 3

AVONVALE set up in an attacking formation and were rewarded with a quick start.

George Dandridge was slipped through by Cristian Goodwin before finishing tidily past the Blunsdon goalkeeper.

After a good period of play, Vale began to get tense on the ball and a Blunsdon player equalised with a fine strike from outside the area.

Adam Gale then restored the lead with a fine solo goal, leaving defenders in his wake as he powered towards goal.

Vale started the second half strongly, with Gale's pace again exposing the home defence.

But playing the ball out from the back, Vale were punished by a good finish from a Blunsdon forward.

The visiting team then restored their lead from a corner. A clever knockdown header from Josh Eddolls was swept home at close range by the excellent Goodwin.

Blunsdon could have equalised but for yet another fine stop by MoM Adam Foster.

Malmesbury Yth Tornadoes 4

Avonvale Utd 4

WITH barely four minutes played, Avonvale took the lead thanks to a great solo effort from Freddie Collings.

Flynn Walton and Danny Hedge did well to keep Malmesbury's fast-paced strikers at bay but a poor clearance was dispatched into the back of the Avonvale net for the equaliser. Scrappy Avonvale play allowed Malmesbury to take the lead but Aaron Burcham levelled with a fine free kick from distance.

The second half continued in much the same way, with Avonvale's superior possession eventually securing a penalty which Burcham calmly dispatched.

A Malmesbury own goal a few minutes later meant it was Avonvale's match to lose.

The Malmesbury boys dug deep, though, and some sloppy tackling from Vale let them back in the game with a third goal.

With less than 10 minutes remaining Malmesbury secured a point thanks to a fine volleyed equaliser.

MoM: Jack Ticehurst.
