BILLY TWELVETREES of Gloucester and England officially opened Fairford RFC’s new junior pitches at their Leafield Road base on Sunday.
Twelvetrees proved a wonderful and accommodating guest, posing for many selfies and signing regular autographs.
On a busy day for the rejuvenated club, who return to league rugby in Gloucester Three this season, they were also awarded full RFU accreditation which was presented by Simon Collyer-Bristow (Gloucestershire RFU) to club chairman Jonathan ‘Beamer’ Chambers.
The club would like to thank the Ernest Cook Trust for permission to use their land for junior rugby pitches. The pitches are in great condition, a remarkable achievement considering they were a cow field less than 18 months ago.
Despite the rain, it was a splendid family day, and the club is enjoying a rapidly-growing membership as it heads into the 2016/17 season.
