A CRUDWELL man is hoping his new film will act as a springboard to a successful career in the film industry and he is appealing for donations towards production costs so it can become a reality.

The Last One is written by Paul Bailey, who also plays the protagonist, Matthew, a man who suddenly finds himself alone after everyone on the planet disappears.

Paul, who has just finished a masters degree in Acting for Screen at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, needs to raise just under £4,000 to make the film happen.

Paul, who has had minor acting roles in several film and TV productions, such as Harry Potter and Casualty explained that in return for donations he will invite people to the screening of the film and offer them signed scripts.

“I always want to share the experience by letting people be part of it,” he said.

“The Last One is something everyone can relate to. Every single thing has disappeared through no apparent reason. What would you do in that situation? This is what Matthew would do and it is hopefully a heart-warming and touching piece. ”

Paul said it is Matthew’s coping mechanism that provides the unique selling point to the film but he said people will have to wait until the film is released to find out what that is.

“It is about the actual event but it is also about the coping mechanism he has created to cope,” he added.

The film is in pre-production and filming is expected to take place in August and September.
