CIRENCESTER Deer Park School pupils showcased their talents at the Expressive Arts Summer Showcase show on May 16.

The evening was the culmination of practice and hard work for an impressive variety of groups, musical styles and dramatic presentations.

A packed programme involving over 100 pupils, saw performances from the school’s steel band, drama group, choir, jazz band, classical guitar group and its newly formed Ukulele Ensemble.

And choir singer Libby Bedford, who also reprised a dance she did with pop superstar Pixie Lott and her fellow pupils at Wembley Stadium recently, said:“I really enjoyed the showcase. I felt really happy after I had performed even though I was nervous before. It really helped me learn how to work with other people in my choir and dance group. I had been practising my singing for my duet and my dancing for the Wembley routines for over a month!”

Chiquita Henson, head of the school, said: “It was an absolute joy to be in the audience. It was a rich and varied programme with some particularly vibrant performances and stunning emerging talent. Our pupils showed true resilience and were incredibly supportive of each other.”
