OLIVIA Fraser from Crudwell told the Standard how a small herd of about 12 cows and their calves escaped from their grazing in Tuners Lane, Crudwell at dusk on Wednesday, August 16.
They wandered up the lane to the busy A429, where almost certain disaster was only averted by a village resident and his dog who shooed them back down the lane.
The farmer and landowner arrived in a matter of minutes, after which the cows were herded back to their field. Olivia captured this photo in the height of the drama.
