I SEE Mr Westermann (November 24) is again slanting ‘the historical truth’ when he thinks that Brexiteers are completely opposed to every detail of cooperation between allied nations.
We might be leaving the European Union, but who on earth said anything about leaving Nato?
There are 28 member countries who are affiliated to Nato and five of them pay their full contribution (two per cent GDP).
The UK is one of the five, so 23 of that wonderful union you keep on about don’t pay up.
Would you like to know that the five are the USA, Greece, United Kingdom, Poland and little Estonia.
Quite a surprise isn’t it?
Mr Westermann also says that many modern British citizens have no sense of gratitude for past sacrifices or obligation to ethical principles.
Hundreds of thousands went to see the ceramic poppies at the Tower of London and at the effigies re the Somme.
I think the reactions of today’s youth are as sound and healthy as my generation’s ever were.
