SADLY our mum had to have a leg amputation, and at the age of 83, boy, that is hard.
A couple of months later mum was feeling better thanks to the fantastic care from Cheltenham and Cirencester Hospitals, and she wanted to come home for Christmas.
The team in Thames Ward (at Cirencester Hospital) were amazing and with their constant care and my mum’s determination this was made possible.
To do this we needed a wheelchair-friendly vehicle, but try getting that three days before Christmas.
Tracy McDonald, the manager at Hunters care home, stepped in and let us borrow the Hunters minibus.
Thank you, Tracy, and all who were involved in this massive act of kindness which resulted in a very happy mum enjoying her Christmas Day.
She is still going strong with sheer grit and determination and the fantastic support of her ward team as well as Dawn Holland and the social team.
Thank you.
