THE person who wrote to the Standard last week about a new home being needed for a well-being centre for people suffering with mental health issues has been misinformed. There is no need to look for another home.
The present Querns Lane building used as a day centre belongs to Cotswold District Council. The Independent Trust was awarded a further three-year lease for the building only last April.
The trust recently won the contract for five years from Gloucestershire County Council to run a mental health well-being service.
If the problem is the rent for two-day use of the Querns Lane building then all that should have been sorted out before the contract was awarded.
This has been a worry to these vulnerable people since last February. It’s time the trust came clean and stopped using the lease as an excuse that they intend to wind up the operation in Cirencester. Go back to the Memorial Centre where there was an excellent day centre for five days of the week.
