Police are trying to locate a woman who is said to have assisted a distressed woman in Cheltenham earlier this month.

Detectives are appealing to identify the woman who was in the area of Fairview Road around 2.30am to 3.30am on Sunday 6 June.

She was described as wearing a colourful outfit which was a polka dot bodysuit and trousers, and is believed to have helped a distressed woman near to The Curry Corner and Machine Mart.

Officers would like to speak to the Good Samaritan as she may be able to assist with their investigation into an allegation of sexual assault.

The woman who required help is described as being white, aged in her 20s and has long blonde hair.

She is receiving support from specialist officers.

Anyone who was in the area at that time and assisted or saw the distressed woman and has not yet spoken to officers is asked to contact police.

The appeal is in relation to an ongoing investigation where a 38-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of rape.

He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
