CIRENCESTER teenager James Dunn put in a solid performance to claim an eventual fourth place overall at the British round of the European Motocross Championship held at Matterley Basin, near Winchester, on Sunday.
Dunn had worked his way up to fifth place on his 125cc KTM in the first race of the day before crashing over the finish line jump midway through the race which dropped him to seventh, where he eventually finished.
The second race of the day provided some of the weekend's best racing, with Dunn working his way through the pack into second place and chasing down leader Damon Graulus, urged on by the sizeable home crowd.
A spirited ride saw Dunn continue to close the gap on Graulus to within a few bike lengths on the very last lap of the race with Graulus holding on to narrowly take the win by just 1.4 seconds and leaving James to ponder what could have been in front of his home crowd in his first year of competing in the series.
Dunn currently sits in fifth position in the EMX125 championship, with the sixth and final round of the series taking place in Italy in three weeks' time.
