STUDENTS at Rendcomb College jumped with joy after another year of excellent A-level results.

Nearly 40 per cent of students at the college achieved Grade A* or A, an improvement of eight per cent on last year.

In total, 98 per cent of students passed the exams, up three per cent from last year.

New headmaster Roland Martin said: "Perhaps most significant is the fact that two out of five results was an A* or A grade, a truly impressive achievement for a non-selective school.

"Rendcomb has always been successful academically and it is clear that the pupils here and their teachers have worked hard to attain these excellent results.

"We will push ever harder next year to build on this position of academic strength while ensuring that we pursue the desire to provide the broad, rounded education for which Rendcomb is rightly known."

Head boy Tom Margesson said he was over the moon after gaining an A* in English and three A’s in History, Maths and Chemistry. He will now go on to study law at Bristol University.

"I am so thrilled, I was absolutely petrified coming in today to get my results.

"Now I feel relieved and ready to celebrate."
