A FACEBOOK page has been launched in a bid to combat plans to introduce 24-hour car parking fees.
The page, titled "Petition against more and rising parking charges in the Cotswolds", was set up by the Liberal Democrat group on Cotswold District Council to campaign against Tory plans to introduce round the clock parking fees.
The site gives residents’ a chance to air their concerns. Nearly 150 people have already signed up to the page.
Cllr Lee Searles, who is heading the campaign, said the extra charges will turn Cirencester into a "ghost town".
He added: "Towns have an important evening economy that will be badly hit by this ill-judged move. We already have 400 signatures in just a few weeks on our petition and we will be out in the towns collecting many more in the weeks to come."
