Stroud Combination Junior Cup Final.
Tetbury 16, Dursley II 6.
TETBURY claimed victory against Dursley seconds in a hard-fought final for the Stroud Combination Junior Cup.
Tetbury took control of the game early on and scored the only try when, from a good line-out, fly half Josh Jensen carved his way through the Dursley defence for a converted try.
Tetbury kept piling on the pressure and they were back on the scoresheet through two penalties from Lewis Prosser.
Tetbury were hoping to finish off Dursley early on in the second half but they found themselves defending for the first 20 minutes. Dursley started to fight back with two penalties but couldn’t find a way past the Tetbury defence.
Prosser slotted another penalty to take the score to 16-6 with only ten minutes left.
Brendan Hope had a brilliant day at No.8, cleaning up from the back of the Tetbury scrum and flanker Stephen Shackleton was fearless in defence.
Man of the Match, though, was Tetbury’s scrum half Mike Tree who dominated his opposite number throughout the game and disrupted any clean ball Dursley had.
It was a well-deserved win for Tetbury, with the whole team defending brilliantly and putting their bodies on the line for their club.
