THE Royal Wedding Celebration Committee in Tetbury has met with community leaders to firm up plans for a town tea party.

The committee, in association with Tetbury Town Council and Tetbury Chamber of Commerce, is co-ordinating the Tetbury Town Tea Party, which will run from 3pm to 5pm in the centre of town.

The committee hopes that residents will bring their own picnics to join in the big street party possibly in Chipping Street and also The Chipping car park and Market Hall. Tetbury mayor Caroline Morgan told the Standard there was likely to be musical entertainment and said that many businesses will be open, with some planning special events.

"Children will be encouraged to dress in bridal clothes and everyone will be hoping for fine weather," she said. "St Mary’s Church will be in wedding mode too and invites people to view bridal dresses and flowers and listen to wedding music. "They plan to serve wedding cake and sparkling wine and special wedding registers will be on display. They hope people will make a donation, which will be forwarded to the charity chosen by William and Kate.

"And if that is not enough celebrating, Westonbirt School invites Tetbury people to their celebrations which begin at 5pm with games for the children and end with a supper."
