A CHAMPAGNE bottle was used to smash a shop front and car window, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Lorrie Richer (corr), who works at RA Bennett estate agent in Castle Street, Cirencester, arrived at work on Monday morning to see the shattered glass lining the pavement outside the premises.

She had parked her silver Saab convertible outside work overnight and discovered that her front car window had also been damaged.

The incident was captured on CCTV and police confirmed that a 23-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on Monday and charged with criminal damage.

Mrs Richer said she was left with a repair bill for the shop window of more than £1,000.
