RESIDENTS in Cirencester have turned detective to try to solve the mystery of who has planted trees in the area.

Beeches residents, led by local Cotswold District Council member Peter Braidwood, said the trees sprang up in the area out of nowhere about a year ago and they have been trying to find out who is responsible ever since.

Cllr Braidwood said the 20 or so trees are located in various areas in the Beeches such as St Mary's Road and Archery Road and seem to be of differnt species.

"We have asked Cirencester Town Council, Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council and Fosseway Living but none of them have planted the trees," he said.

"They’ve been put up really well and have got six foot sticks and fencing around them," he added.

"We have no complaints about them we are just fascinated want to know who put them there."

Cllr Braidwood said residents really like the trees being there and just want the person or people responsible to come forward to satisfy their curiosity.
