PRE-SEASON work-out at Cirencester Town FC got under way last weekend with the first training sessions ahead of a new campaign.

Centurions' manager Brian Hughes has been busy during the close season in talking to a number of players and is pleased to announce several new additions to the squad.

One of them, Scott Griffin, a former Academy graduate who has recently been playing for Cinderford, has re-joined the Town set-up.

Hughes said: "Scott will be a great addition. He has a close affinity with the club and was keen to return. He is a proven goal scorer and we hope that he'll give us that competitive edge."

Gary Wootton, a centre-half from Boreham Wood, has also joined the Corinium Stadium squad along with Jody Beavan, from Weston-Super-Mare, and Paul Thompson, a former goalkeeper with Mangotsfield United.

Cirencester Town are delighted to announce a new ground sharing arrangement at the Corinium Stadium with their near neighbours, Cirencester United FC.

The arrangement will commence at the start of the new season 2003/04 and will initially be for one season.

The Town's chairman, Steve Abbley, commented: "We are extremely pleased to have finalised this arrangement; it makes perfect sense for both clubs."

Ivor Probert, acting chairman for Cirencester United, echoed the comments made by Steve and added:

"It is a great move both for our club and for local football. We are really looking forward to a good season at the Corinium Stadium."

By way of cementing the new relationship, the two clubs will play a pre-season friendly game at the Corinium Stadium on Saturday, July 19, kick-off 3pm.

Town's line-up of pre-season friendlies are as follow:

Wednesday, July 16, 7.30pm: Cirencester Town v Bristol Rovers; Saturday, July 19, 3pm: Cirencester Town v Cirencester United; Saturday, July 26, 2pm: Cirencester Town v Woking Town; Monday, July 28, 7.30pm: Cirencester Town v Swindon Town.

Once again, summer soccer courses to keep youngsters amused during the school holidays are to be run at the Corinium Stadium.

Fun days for six to 16-year- olds, boys and girls, will start on Monday, July 21, and run all week from 9.30am to 3pm daily.

Fraser Digby, former Swindon Town keeper, will be running goalkeeping workshops, and Russell Milton, of Cheltenham Town FC, will be leading the soccer coaching days.
