A SWINDON man arrested in connection with the disappearance of Purton woman Amanda Edwards has been released without charge.
Police were given until midnight on Thursday to question the man, who they confirmed was known to Amanda, but was neither her boyfriend or a member of her family.
Forensic teams have been using a JCB digger to excavate land behind the Knoll House Hotel in Malmesbury, in the search for clues to Amanda's whereabouts.
Police spent most of Thursday examining the hotel for clues, using a sniffer dog and specialist officers inside the former hotel, which is being converted into luxury homes by Bath developer Chase Homes.
Amanda was last seen on Thursday, April 8 in Calne, and police have revealed that CCTV footage from Wootton Bassett showed her car being driven through the town on that day.
A police press conference is due to be held later today.
