Obviously, I was approaching the game with some trepidation as we were missing three first-team regulars (Jamie Reid, Tom Etheridge and Carl Brown) and we had to blood a few youngsters.

There were also concerns about Jody Bevan coming back after his hamstring injury, so when we went 2-1 down we could have been dead and buried.

But the lads showed great character to come back and having got in front we could even have had two more.

Ryan Parker is a different type of player to Browny as he is an out-and-out winger, but he does give us that pace.

Liam Williams and Dan Wallington, who is the ex-Swindon Town player and not the lad who played for the club previously, both did okay.

We still have injury issues with Tom Etheridge and Carl Brown ahead of the FA Cup tie with Oxford City on Sunday.

I have put in ‘seven days’ for two players – a left back and a midfielder – but that is for next week and beyond, if they come off.

We are sure to hit a bumpy patch, like we did last season, but I like to think we have more scrappers at the club now who would knuckle down and get us through it.
