IT WAS a decent match; we played well in the first half and took a pounding in the second.

We defended well – Lyndon Tompkins and Chris Thompson did a good job as the central defensive partnership.

Tim Grigg, our physio, had just come back from two weeks on a course in Lilleshall and did not like the look of Neil Griffiths’ knee so he was not risked as he could have done more serious damage.

We gave away too many free kicks and at 1-1 there only looked like one winner – and it wasn’t us. I would have taken a replay at that stage.

Carl Brown scored another great goal but I do believe there is a lot more to come from him.

And then we had a bit if magic from Griff at the end to earn the penalty.

North Leigh had a lot of possession and played it around neatly but Matt Bath only had one serious save to make from a free kick.

I was impressed with their Matt Taylor. He was a real handful and the best player I have seen since coming back to management.

We now have Abingdon Utd in the next round and that suits me because I like to play teams from our division because we know what to expect.

Hopefully, Neil Griffiths will be fit for the weekend and Ryan Parker, who has come to us from Cinderford, will also be involved in the squad.
