THE former boss of Cotswold District Council has died at the age of 56.
Bob Austin, who served the council for 17 years, including five years as chief executive, died after battling a rare neurological disease for some time.
Mr Austin, who lived in Stratton, Cirencester, leaves a wife Trish, and three sons, Will, Tom and Jack.
From May 2007 Mr Austin spent 18 months as chief executive at CDC and serving as interim chief executive at Tewkesbury Borough Council.
He was due to take up the Tewkesbury position full-time but was unable to take on the role due to his illness.
A spokesman for the family said that they are putting together a statement with the district council.
