GOSPORT Borough should have been out of sight in the first half, they created so many chances, while, for the first half hour we looked as if we had never played together before.

Their goal was the result of decent play but our back four was very square and they were undone by a slide rule pass out wide. Having said that, Tom King had a rush of blood and came out unnecessarily The front men we have encountered already this season have been very good and Gosport were no different.

Justin Bennett was the top scorer in this league last season and along with his partner showed good movement and caused us problems all day.

I took Mattie Williams off after 20 minutes because nothing was sticking to him and I was not getting the reaction I wanted after the Truro game. Also, Adam Heath has been champing at the bit to get his chance.

He has been very lively. He is a threat with his pace and he has a good attitude.

We were much better in the second half, especially in the first 15 minutes.

I thought Jools had his best game in a Ciren shirt. His hold-up play was excellent, he set up the goal well and Heathy found a very good finish.

In the last 20 minutes it was end to end stuff and either side could have won the game. They were hanging on a bit at the end and we hit the post late on, but then they could have won it with the last kick of the game.

The central midfield position is still causing us problems. I don’t think Andy Robertson is the answer because of his work commitments, but we are pleased he came in for a couple of games.

I am hoping to have something sorted by the Abingdon game.

As for what’s likely to be a feisty local derby with Bishops Cleeve on Monday, Gary Thorne must be a doubt. He put in a fantastic block at one point on Saturday and injured a rib. He did very well to finish the game.

I think the lads are overcomplicating matters and they need the first win to settle down.

At least we are scoring goals and it is an indication of our attacking prowess that we are the only side to have scored against Truro City this season.

Bishops Cleeve have not conceded a goal so far and in that position you can feel invincible. But when the first goal goes in, that often changes things and I think we can cause them problems.
