A VARIED programme of events, including historic walks, cinema screenings, exhibitions and family activities, is planned for November.
Cirencester's Corinium Museum is offering visitors opportunities to explore the town's history, discover local artwork and enjoy performances throughout the month.
On Tuesday, November 10, a guided walk will explore Cirencester's historic pubs and inns. Some are still operating as hostelries whilst others are now private buildings or no longer physically exist.
Along the way, the walk leader will discuss each one and see how they fitted into the wider history of the town, providing an interesting insight into how the town was affected by national events and social change, all through the lens of the public house.
The museum will host a talk entitled Cirencester – 6,000 Years in 40 Minutes on Thursday, November 12, covering the town's history from the Neolithic period to the 20th century. Tickets cost £10.
Archaeologist Dr Alison Grierson-Brookes will lead a walking tour of Roman Cirencester on Friday, November 13, exploring the town's ancient walls and amphitheatre before guiding visitors through the museum's Roman galleries.
Tickets cost between £30 and £33.
A medieval-themed walk on November 21 will examine Cirencester's wool trade and its influence on the town's buildings, markets and economy.
Families can enjoy Festive Fun with Peppa Cinema Experience on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, featuring Christmas-themed episodes and songs. Tickets cost £5.
An evening lecture on Thursday, November 26 will explore Britain's changing landscapes and wildlife through Eloise Kane's book Wilderlands: The Human History of Wild Britain.
Cinema screenings include the Royal Ballet and Opera's production of Carmen on Tuesday, November 10 and the drama Midwinter Break, starring Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds, on Saturday, November 28.
The museum will also host two free art exhibitions.
