ROTARY clubs are backing a lifesaving campaign that encourages people to join the organ donation register.
Twenty Rotary clubs across Gloucestershire are supporting Organ Donation Week, running from September 21 to 26.
Nick Gazzard OBE, president of Gloucester Quays Rotary and District 1100 humanitarian lead, said: "Organ Donation Week is a powerful reminder how one decision – to sign up to the Organ Donation Register – can save or transform many lives.
"As Rotarians we champion 'service above self', and supporting Organ Donation Week is a natural extension of that ethos."
Ian Mean, chair of Gloucestershire’s Organ Donation Committee, welcomed the support.
He said: "The involvement and commitment of all 20 Rotary Clubs in Gloucestershire is a big boost for us during the forthcoming Organ Donation Week and for the future.
"Nick Gazzard is right. Signing up to the Organ Donation Register is so very easy online and enables you to help to save up to nine lives."
