A bishop will visit 20 churches in a single day as part of a fundraising challenge.
The Rt Revd Karen Gorham, Bishop of Sherborne and Acting Bishop of Salisbury, will take on the 20-church challenge across Poole as part of this year’s Ride + Stride event, raising funds for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust.
Bishop Gorham said: "I’m really looking forward to taking part in Ride + Stride this year and visiting 20 churches across Poole.
"It’s a wonderful opportunity to see and celebrate the different Christian communities that are part of the town, while also raising money to help care for the many beautiful historic churches across Dorset that are such an essential part of our shared history and heritage."
Ride + Stride is an annual event that encourages people to walk, cycle, or travel by other means between churches and chapels to raise funds for their upkeep and repair.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 12.
Bishop Gorham will begin her route of around 13 miles at 8.30am from the Church of the Good Shepherd in Herbert Avenue.
She will finish in the afternoon at St James in Church Street.
Her route will include churches from a variety of Christian traditions, including Anglican, Baptist, Roman Catholic, and United Reformed Church congregations.
Funds raised through her JustGiving page will go towards the Dorset Historic Churches Trust, which provides grants for essential repairs to church buildings across the county.
