Former Swindon Town defender Conor McCarthy will not be fit in time to face them in the opening match of the League Two season.
The League Two season begins this weekend, and Swindon will be away from home for the sixth straight season.
That will see them take on newly relegated Northampton at Sixfields Stadium, and they will be hoping to keep The Cobblers' dismal run of form going.
A run of one win in 2026 saw them drop out of the third tier, and their last victory came all the way back in February.
They have changed things over the summer, with Chris Hogg becoming the new manager, having previously been Liam Manning's assistant at Milton Keynes Dons, Oxford United, Bristol City, and Norwich City.
Like Swindon, they begin the season with a couple of injury concerns, missing a trio of defenders, whereas at least six senior Town players will miss the trip.
Former Swindon defender McCarthy, as well as Jack Burroughs, and Liam Shaw remain unavailable, but Logan Briggs returns to the squad after missing the Leicester game as he was ineligible against his parent club.
However, Janoi Donacien, who joined from Chesterfield this summer, is fit and available for selection after being forced off in the Carabao Cup tie at Leicester City, though it was later revealed he had been suffering from illness rather than injury.

Hogg said: "I saw people say that Janoi limped off at the weekend, but he didn’t limp off. He’s perfect. He’s trained well this week.
"He just needed to get his breath back at the weekend after illness, but he’s had a full week, and he’s in contention.
"Everyone else is as it was at the weekend – no changes."
Recent signing Lee Evans made a 15-minute cameo against Leicester and could feature again as he works towards full match fitness after missing pre-season.
Evans joined Northampton last week after departing Bradford City at the end of last season and provides a large amount of experience to the squad, having made 122 Championship appearances and 230 League One appearances in his career.
He said: "The beauty of someone like Lee who’s played a vast amount of games is that he knows his body and he knows what he can and can’t do.
"We’ve had conversations with him, and we’ll see where he’s at, but we’ve given him a programme that will hopefully put him in a position where he can contribute."
