THE landlady of a pub near Cirencester has told of her gratitude to the emergency services after a motorhome ‘exploded’ at the site.
Firefighters were called just after 2.30pm today (Wednesday, July 15) after the motorhome caught fire at the site of The Trout Inn at St John’s Bridge in Faringdon Road in Lechlade, located beside the River Thames.
In footage taken by paddleboarder Brian Gully, an inferno can be seen ripping through the vehicle while huge black clouds of smoke fill the sky.
Mr Gully described the moments he saw the fire and heard an ‘explosion’.
“I turned up on my paddleboard to the launch at The Trout to find a motorhome on fire, then it exploded,” he said.
Penny Warren, landlady at the pub, confirmed a motorhome fire had occurred at the premises.

“We’re grateful to the emergency services for getting here so quickly,” she told the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 2.36pm to a caravan fire near The Trout Inn in Lechlade.
“Two fire engines, from Fairford and Cirencester, attended and used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
“The stop message was received at 3.57pm.”
