A HOSPICE charity is encouraging people to talk openly about death and dying to foster understanding and support.
Kate’s Home Nursing, based in Bourton-on-the-Water, is inviting the North Cotswolds community to get talking about death during Dying Matters Awareness Week, which runs from May 4 to 10.
As part of the week, the charity will host two informal Let’s Talk sessions, inviting the public to discuss death, dying and bereavement in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.
Pamela Stevenson, a registered nurse at Kate’s Home Nursing, said: "Talking about death and dying can feel uncomfortable, but it is something that will affect every one of us at some point in our lives.
"By having these conversations earlier, and in a supportive environment, we can help people feel more prepared, more in control, and better able to support those they care about."
Visitors are welcome to ask questions, share experiences, or simply listen.
The sessions will be supported by the charity’s nurses, along with funeral directors and solicitors, who will offer advice and answer questions.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, May 5 from 3pm to 5pm at the George Moore Community Centre in Bourton-on-the-Water, followed by a second session on Wednesday, May 6 from 2pm to 4pm at Lower Redesdale Hall in Moreton-in-Marsh.
Dying Matters Awareness Week is a national initiative led by Hospice UK to encourage more open conversations about death.
