A NEW dentist has opened at the site of a former police station in Malmesbury.
Malmesbury Dental & Specialist Referral Centre has launched at 1 Burton Hill in the town.
Offering private dental care and specialist services, it has been founded by Hamish and Imogen Bury, who have invested significantly in creating the facility.
The practice, which has been purpose built and features advanced equipment, has an emphasis on patient comfort and clear communication.
“The aim is to create a calm, unhurried setting where patients feel at ease throughout their care,” a spokesperson for the facility said.
Dental services available at the practice include routine exams and hygiene appointments, as well as more advanced specialist treatments.
Dental patient plans are offered to support ongoing preventative care.
The centre also provides specialist referral services and works with dentists across the region, supporting them in the management of more complex treatments.
In addition, it accepts referrals for orthopantomogram and cone beam computed tomography imaging.
“We are delighted to finally open our doors to patients,” Mr Bury said.
“This has been a long-term project for us, and our goal has always been to create a practice that combines clinical excellence with a genuinely-patient-focused experience.
“We understand visiting the dentist is not always easy for everyone, so a great deal of thought has gone into creating an environment where patients feel comfortable, informed and supported.
“We are pleased to be part of the local dental community and to support both patients and referring dentists in the area.”
The Standard reported in 2017 that Malmesbury and Cricklade’s police stations were to close permanently under cost-cutting measures outlined by Wiltshire’s police and crime commissioner.
1 Burton Hill has reportedly not been used as a police station since 2020.
A planning application submitted to Wiltshire Council for the extension and reconfiguration of a dental surgery at the address from September last year was approved with conditions, with a decision notice sent in October.
The site also saw an application to Wiltshire Council for a change of use from a former police station to a dental practice approved with conditions, with a decision notice sent in February 2025.
This latter application was validated in December 2024.
