Longstanding Tetbury care home sold after more than 25 years

Business selling agent Christie & Co has announced the sale of Kingsley House Nursing Home in Gumstool Hill to care home-owner Kandiah Vijayakumar.

The care business, which continues to operate, is registered for 37 residents and has a good rating from the Care Quality Commission.

It occupies a 35-bedroom detached Cotswold stone property which was once used as a hospital.

The home has been owned by Aleem Siddiqi for more than a quarter of a century.

Mr Siddiqi, who recently added an extension to the home to create extra bedrooms, chose to sell the home to pursue retirement.

The home has been bought by Mr Vijayakumar following a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey, senior director for care at Christie & Co.

Mr Vijayakumar owns four other care homes in Goatacre in Wiltshire, Yeovil and Castle Cary in Somerset and Sherborne in Dorset.

“I was particularly interested in the location and confident value could be added, as I have successfully done with four other properties in our group,” he said.

“This aligned with our goal of expanding in South West England.”

“Having known Mr Vijayakumar for some time and closely followed his expansion, we were pleased to be able to match his requirements with a home such as Kingsley House and are delighted to have assisted his continued expansion.
