A FACTORY worker who had surgery after developing a retinal tear believes he could have completely lost his sight if it wasn't for an eye test.
Steven Molton, 60, was seen by an optometrist at Specsavers Tetbury in June 2025 after noticing a 'floater' in his left eye.
During a comprehensive eye examination, a retinal tear was found and Steven was referred to Cheltenham General Hospital.
Surgery was carried out the following day to repair the damage.
Mr Molton said: "I would urge anyone who notices a change in their vision to visit their local opticians because if it wasn’t for Jake, I could have completely lost my sight in that eye."
Store director and optometrist Jake Henderson said: "I’m really pleased to hear Steven is doing well.
"His story highlights how important it is to pay attention to any changes, however small, because if a retinal detachment is left untreated then it could lead to permanent damage."
Symptoms of retinal detachment include new flashes of lights, sudden floating lines or dots, and loss of vision.
