STUDENTS from a primary school near Cricklade have launched a show home at a homebuilder’s new housing development.
Pupils from Ashton Keynes Primary School were given the privilege of cutting the ribbon to officially launch the four-bedroom Bewley Homes show home at King’s Water in Ashton Keynes.
The Year 6 students were given a guided tour of The Ashton show home and an orientation of the development at the Welcome Centre at King’s Water.
They also got their hands on special Bewley goody bags.
King’s Water is a development of 75 homes with a double-gated stone entrance.
It is situated within a nature reserve, with many homes enjoying views of private lakes, and offers two, three, four and five-bedroom properties, including bungalows and refurbished Grade II-listed buildings.
The community is divided into four areas - The Meadows, The Lawns, The Mews and The Lakes.
Homes feature free-flowing layouts, natural light and modern design elements.
As part of Bewley Homes’ commitment to ecology at King’s Water, the company has also worked with specialists to create habitats for wildlife, including a purpose-built bat pavilion.
The development aims to achieve an 18 per cent net gain in biodiversity.
A notable feature of The Ashton show home is the garden, with Bewley Homes collaborating with RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal-winner Tony Woods (who has selected plants to create functional and aesthetically-pleasing layouts and landscaping).
Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, said: “Having been working in new homes for many years, this development is the most unique in terms of its lakeside setting, rural aspect and range of homes.
“It is without doubt a truly special scheme, and we have had incredible feedback so far from those who have viewed the show home.
“Our first reservations have been taken, and having met the customers, they are very excited to have purchased one of these fantastic homes.”
Andrew Driscoll, land director at Bewley Homes, added: “It was lovely to be able to take the pupils and headteacher Samantha Saville on a tour of our fabulous show home and see their reaction, as well as demonstrating the amazing customer interaction video presentation in our Welcome Centre.”
“It was a lovely gesture by Bewley to invite our pupils as VIPs to open the show home at King’s Water,” Samantha said.
“They felt very special, and we were all impressed with the show home.
“We helped with the ground-breaking earlier this year, so it was amazing to see the progress that’s gone on.”
Prices at King’s Water start from £500,000.
