A NEW CRICKLADE business that opened its doors to the public last Saturday has paid tribute to its historic past.

White Swan Beauty, named after the original 18th Century White Swan pub, is a beauty therapy business offering an array of treatments.

The nearly 300 year old building at 31 High Street, Cricklade (next to the Vale Hotel) started life in 1736 as the White Swan public house and has seen many changes over the years, including a meeting place for political activists, a Sue Ryder shop, Cricklade Autoparts and Madam Blunt hairdresser,  yet it still retains many of its original features.

"I am so excited to offer beauty services to people in and around Cricklade and, of course, recognise the historic importance of a lovely building right in the centre of this bustling Wiltshire town."
