A MAN from a village near Malmesbury has been banned from the roads after he was caught drink-driving.

Paul Adams, aged 49, of Tetbury Road, Sherston, was stopped by officers from Wiltshire Police concerned about his manner of driving on Monday, April 15 .

He was seen to clip kerbs in residential areas of Oakhurst, Swindon, and was seen driving at excessive speeds in the area.

A roadside breath test showed he was twice the drink drive limit and he was arrested and later charged.

Adams appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 15, where he was banned for 19 months.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £650 in costs plus a £48 surcharge - a total of £818.

Roads policing lead investigator T/Det Con Sean Williams from Wiltshire Police said: “Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences most likely to cause serious or fatal collisions on our roads.

“It was clear from the manner of driving witnessed on this occasion that Adams was intoxicated.

“We will not tolerate this behaviour and will do all we can to root out those who commit this type of crime, posing a risk to other road users and pedestrians.”
