NEARLY 2,000 youth footballers hit Malmesbury as the annual wonderful summer tournament returned.

Indeed, there was talk of only one tournament in this town – the Malmesbury Youth FC Summer Tournament, sponsored by The James Dyson Foundation.

Back for another year, the MYFC Summer Tournament is a key date in the youth football calendar - with a staggering 210 teams from far and wide signing up to take part.

Indeed 1,700 players, and 5,000 supporters joined in the fun at Malmesbury’s Dave and Marion Picter Playing Fields.

The tournament is a truly monumental effort by the dedicated MYFC committee, with an army of volunteers enlisted to help ensure the event runs as magnificently as it has become known for being.

"The matches ran smoothly, everyone was helpful and most importantly the refs were fair!

"Everything ran like clockwork.

"It was a joy to attend! Thank you for having the Hawks”.

"We’ve become known for our tournament and are delighted to welcome teams from all over – many of whom enter multiple squads and return year after year.

"Malmesbury Youth is a magnificent grassroots football club, offering young people in Malmesbury and its surrounding villages the opportunity to be part of something really special – it’s far more than a football Club!

"Our tournament isn’t just about football, it’s a brilliant community event; run by the community, for the community (not just the football community)."

If the Malmesbury Youth FC summer tournament has inspired you to support grassroots football and a fantastic community event, the organising committee would love to hear from you.
